SEND Provision
At Lakeview we ensure that the learning needs of all pupils is met. For some children, who have difficulties with their learning, additional support needs to be implemented.
For those children identified as having 'Additional Needs', the teacher works alongside the SENDCo (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Coordinator) to produce an IEP (Individual Education Plan). This identifies the specific needs of the child and the actions that will be taken to address them. These are shared with parents and we look to work alongside the family to accelerate the pupil's learning.
Some children require more specialist involvement, in which case the SENDCo - Miss Holmes (with the agreement of parents) will seek to involve outside professional agencies.
We will always work with you to support you and your child in every way we can. At times pupils may access external support from one or more agencies. We actively seek and encourage partnerships with all professionals and work together to support pupils through fully inclusive practice. The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) are based at Lakeview Primary School fortnightly. As a team we are embedded within your school to support pupils, families and school staff with their wellbeing. We work with students who may be experiencing difficulties with their mental health through short term evidence based interventions over 6-8 sessions. This may be in the form of 1:1, group or parent support. We also offer advice and signposting support.

The Bedford SENDIASS (formerly Bedford SEND Advice) provide a free, impartial and confidential service to parents and carers of children who have special educational needs and or a disability (SEND). We also offer support to young people with SEN or a disability to help them access the best possible education. Bedford SENDIASS Service aims to encourage partnership between parents, carers and young people with those responsible for their education and training.

A Parent Carer Forum is a group of parents and carers of children with special educational needs or disabilities who work with local authorities, education settings, health providers and other providers to make sure that the services they commission, plan and deliver meet the needs of disabled children and families.
