    Cygnets’ Home Learning

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We would first of all like to say a huge thank you for all of the efforts that have been made by you and your children whilst they have been at home. It is a difficult time for all and it just shows the resilliance even our youngest children possess with this huge change to their daily routines.  It has been fantastic to hear from so many of you about the activities you have been doing away from Nursery, the photos and the emails we have received via the class email account have made us incredibly proud and have brightenend up our days.

If you prefer to have a more structured routine or would like further ideas, we have included some home challenges which can be completed in any order and adapted to suit you and your child’s needs and interests. Please bear in mind that these are just ideas, what works for each family and child will be different. Making time to include reading in your daily routines is extremely beneficial, this is something we prioritise at Nursery. Reading to your child is a great way to expose them to a variety of books whilst spending some quality, quiet time together. Reading  also supports language development, increases vocabulary and creates an early love of reading.  We have had some great fun in Cygnets linked to stories from creating role play areas, making puppets and performing shows to our friends as well as painting or creating our favourite characters.

Remember, play is still the most valuable thing you can do with your children and children will be constantly learning and developing life skills while they play.

If you need any support with home learning,  we will be happy to help and we will aim to reply within 24 hours if you send a message to the class email address cygnets@lakeviewschool.co.uk

We are missing you all greatly and hope that you are keeping safe,

Mrs Sharpe and the Nursery Team

    Reception Home Learning

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you for all of the lovely pictures, photos and messages you have sent to the class emails. It is the highlight of our day getting so see what you have all been up to. We have seen children creating beautiful paintings, cooking, drawing, playing games, doing Phonics and having lots of fun whilst challenging yourselves!

If you prefer to have a more structured routine or would like further ideas we have included some home challenges which can be completed in any order and adapted to suit you and your childs needs and interests. We chose two of our favourite books for after Easter, ‘The Greedy Python’ and ‘Pete the Cat:I love my White Shoes’ (which will be a song that gets stuck in your head!).

In the work pack, there are reading examples to work through with your child. Work at your child’s level and if you need to read it to them they can answer questions about it or say what they liked or found funny! There are also some great books on the Oxford Owl website; you will need to set up an account but this is free to do. Youtube has many stories being read by the author too, it reminds us of story time, which was one of our favourite times of the day to share with you.

We are so sad to know that we are missing our class assemblies so maybe you could send us some videos of you singing or dancing to cheer us up! We will also be missing our first ever school trip together. We know that the coach trip is the best part for many of you, but maybe you could create a coach using pillows or chairs from around the house! Our trip was going to Ashridge and we were going to do den building using sticks and natural resources so maybe you could make your own den using materials around the house! Also, we were going to make collages out of leaves, stones and petals. You could make one in your garden or when out on a walk your adult could collect some resources. Here is one we like.

We miss playing games in our outdoor area, sharing books together, having our Friday dances, listening to our funny nursery rhyme raps in Music and using the wall bars in PE! Keep playing and having fun! We still remember every little thing about you and will be waiting to greet you when you come back to school.

If you need any support with home learning,  or you just want to touch base and say hi, we are always more than happy to help and we will aim to reply within 24 hours if you send a message to the class email address Newts- newts@lakeviewschool.co.uk .  Tadpoles -tadpoles@lakeviewschool.co.uk

Miss you all so much, take care and stay safe!
