    Home Learning

    Dear Parents/Carers

We would first of all like to say a huge thank you for all of the efforts that have been made by you and your children whilst they have been at home. YOU ARE ALL DOING A GREAT JOB! Key workers and parents alike – we are all in this together. We thank every single one of you for doing your own bit, no matter how big or how small you think your contribution is – we will beat this together.

Moving forward we will continue to send fortnightly Parentmails (during term time) with updated home learning tasks, post links and ideas to our school Facebook page, should you wish to use them. Remember, we are not all teachers, but we are parents. All you have to do at this time is your best. Adapt the learning ideas and timetable according to the circumstances of your family.

It has been fantastic to hear from so many of you about the activities you have been doing whilst away from school. Please continue to send in photos and videos of what you have been getting up to. In this regard, we would like to remind you about some of the activities that can be accessed at home, as well as direct you towards support if ever you need help completing these tasks with your children.

The ‘Home Learning’ page of the school website provides links to a range of activities that are suitable for a variety of ages; whether it’s listening to a story read by David Walliams, completing a work out with Joe Wicks or having a go at some fun and exciting Science challenges, we would love to hear about what the children have been up to and there is a fantastic range of activities which can be accessed here if you feel that this would be suitable for your family.

A suggested timetable can also be found here. This can be edited to suit the needs of your situation and is only a suggestion of how each learning day might be structured- we understand that many of you will also need to be working from home during this time.

More than this, each Year group team have set some ‘2Dos’ on Purple Mash which the children will be able to access when they login (login details have been stuck inside each child’s ‘Reading Journal’ or ‘Planner’). By completing and submitting these, staff will be able to leave individual feedback for the children about their work.

Finally, there are also weekly packs available which include a range of projects which the children can complete at home. These work as cross-year group projects so that families with more than one child in the school can all be working on similar projects. Please click here to access our Facebook page which will have regular reminders and updates as well as additional suggested activities to support learning at home.  If you need any support with any of the home learning, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your child’s class teacher via the class email address (class@lakeviewschool.co.uk e.g. swans@lakeviewschool.co.uk).

We are now looking forward to welcoming back some of you next week.  Please have a look at a short video we have created to give you a flavour of what the school will look like.  Please note that if the video does not play on your device, you can follow this link for Youtube instead (https://youtu.be/kXtoOFHxt-Y).

    Kind regards,

    The Lakeview Team
