    Year 2

    Year 2 Home Learning

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Firstly, we really wanted to say how much we have enjoyed reading all of the work that you have shared with us via email and on Purple Mash. It has been brilliant to hear from so many of you about the activities you have been up to whilst away from school.

We have set some ‘2Dos’ on Purple Mash which the children will be able to access when they login (login details have been stuck inside each child’s reading journals – if you need new ones then let us know via the class e-mail account). One of the tasks set on Purple Mash is to do some research all about Easter and then launch the ‘Easter Poster’ to create a poster including all of the facts you learnt from your research. The posters already received are very impressive and shows good knowledge of what we have learnt in RE this term. You might know some other facts that you can include too. By completing and submitting these, Mr Morrison and Miss Channing will be able to leave individual feedback for you about work provided as well as suggesting changes to edit and improve work. ‘2Do’ tasks will be set weekly so look out for these as we really do enjoy receiving this work.

One of the things that we are really missing is reading books with you and reading different things in our theme learning! Feel free to revisit some of the books that we have read this year which includes Jack and the Beanstalk, The Kitchen Disco and The Day the Crayons Quit. One of the books that we were planning to read in the Summer Term is Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl and Around the World in 80 days by Philleas Fogg. If you have access to these texts, these would be fantastic to read as a family or even as an audio book. We would also suggest using the free books available via audible. You can also find some of the class reading books at your reading level through the Oxford Owl at https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/

We are also extremely disappointed that we didn’t get to participate in our chocolate designing and making. We would have loved to have seen your creativity in your design of chocolate wrappers and the chocolate itself. Maybe you could try designing a chocolate by melting chocolate and adding different decorations to the bottom of an ice cube tray and adding in the chocolate on top. Purple Mash also have a range of fantastic resources that could be used if you want to do some further home learning on the topic. Please send us any photos of any foods or chocolate you have made too!

If you need any support with home learning, Mr Morrison (Butterflies) and Miss Channing (Dragonflies) will be happy to help and we will aim to reply within 24 hours if you send a message to the class email address (Butterflies@lakeviewschool.co.uk or Dragonflies@lakeviewschool.co.uk).

We are missing you all greatly and hope that you are keeping safe,

    The Year 2 team

Mr Morrison, Miss Channing, Mrs Chand, Miss Mistry and Mrs Fry
